Pisces Full Moon Ritual

timing

I like to spend three days doing moon work, starting the day before and ending the day after a full or new moon, but this is not necessary. Feel free to start this ritual exactly at 5:59 am est on Sept. 10th or any day this week. Remember, this is all about going with the flow.

tools

  • Altar
  • white candle
  • herbs, flowers, foods, crystals, symbols
  • items you feel called to add to your altar

preparation

First things first, cleanse your body. Never step us to your altar before being clean. Take a mindful bath or shower and if you're short on time, brush your teeth and wash your face.

Next, cleanse your space. Use this energy cleansing guide for several ways to cleanse your space and which tools to use.

Steps

Friday Night

Carve any symbols that resonate with you into your white candle. Dress your candle with Piscean oils and herbs. If you can, situate yourself and your candle outside or in a place that you can see the Full Moon and it can see you. Bathe in its light and feel free to dance under its vibrant glow. If you can't, spend time visualizing the Moon's light beaming down on you and filling you up.

As you do this, consider what projects, goals, or efforts in your life are nearing the finish line, or gaining traction. Choose the journal prompts that resonate the most with you and reflect on all you've learned during the past lunar cycle, and all that is being illuminated for you to witness now.

Leave your candle and allow it to soak in the light from the moon.

Saturday (anytime or at 5:59 a.m. EST)

You can start at 5:59 a.m. or wait if you like. I prefer to wait till the sun goes down and I can see the Moon in all its beautiful glory.

Light your candle and take a seat. Close your eyes and take three deep inhales through the nose and exhale out the mouth. Envision the beams of moonlight saturating your skin and filling you up. Take a moment to indulge.

Open your eyes and reflect on your journal prompts.

When you're ready, recite to the Full Moon:

"Thank you for the opportunity to live out my dreams. Thank you for the opportunity to learn _________________ about myself and to have gotten to practice _________________. I promise not to take my own efforts or the help offered to me for granted. I promise to integrate the wisdom I've gathered during this time so that I can pay it forward and live in abundance."

Once you feel ready, thank the divine intelligence or consciousness for its time and snuff out your candle. If you'd like to keep your candle light, please use caution. Place your candle in a bowl with water.

Sunday

We're all born with the ability to heal ourselves. Our bodies are in a constant state of maintaining balance. It's that energy that gives us the power to heal aspects of ourselves as needed. The simple act of breathing can be healing when done with your own personal healing power. Mindful breathing will usher in more centered awareness to your being.

Pranayama translates to the "control of breath". It supports and shapes our "prana" aka our Ki, or life force. Mindful breathing - controling your breath and energy - is an invaluable tool for a sound mind, body and spirit.

Practice the following for 3-11 minutes. Save this ritual to come back to this as needed.

Find a stable relaxed sitting position, straight upright spine, and soft face.

Breathe through your nose, observing the natural rhythmic repetition.

Begin to mentally count the length of your breaths, slowly and steadily. Start with a four count of equal length: Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4. After several rounds, increase to a six count, an eight count, possibly a ten count. Continue for several minutes.

Then, increase your exhale by two to four seconds longer than your inhale: Inhale 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Continue to increase the count as you go, for several more minutes. Be absorbed by the metronomic rhythm.

When complete, become aware of any changes you feel and repeat this mantra three times: the rhythm of my breath directs the rhythm of my life.

Cultivating gratitude is an ongoing practice. We should be infusing gratitude into everything we touch and create. For the next moon cycle, we're going to cultivate gratitude daily with intention.

The key here is consistency. Find a time in the day that works best for you and set your intention.

Adorn: Choose a favorite piece of jewelry to be your gratitude 'charm'. On day one, hold this charm and infuse it with your deepest gratitudes. Let yourself be moved by the countless blessings in your life. Wear this charm throughout the ritual as a sweet reminder.

Gratitude Jar: Then, everyday for 28 days, write 1-3 things you're grateful for and put it into a glass jar. Be specific - tap into how these people, experiences or qualities have elevated your life. Place your jar where the sun and moon can shine light into your blessings.

post ritual reflections

On day 29: Empty your jar and read your notes with full presence. You may be surprised and touched by what you read. Continue to make gratitude a vital part of your daily life.
